What speakers are you using? What receiver? Where is your primary listening position? It's impossible to tell these things from your picture.

A few thoughts:
  • Put the TV on the wall where that red panel is.
  • Elevate the L&R speakers so that the tweeters are at ear level when you're seated.
  • If the CC speaker is somewhere down low, elevate it and/or angle it toward your ears.
  • Get a better sub.

Got a klipsch rc-404 cc, flanked by two klipsch rc 62ii, and a polk psw10 sub. I know this isnt top of the line equipment but i should be able to get decent results in a room this size right? Primary listening position is directly behind the camera, sitting on a leather couch thats up against the wall (not idea i know). thanks for ur help!!!

edit - yamaha v365 receiver

Dolby's corner placement recommendation:

Put the absorption panel right behind your head. Run YPAO.

Post more pics or a drawing of the room. Corner placement and the asymmetry of the speaker placement is bad (left speaker on a wall, right speaker has an opening behind it). Couldn't be much worse re: room acoustics. The coffee table is a reflective surface so you hear comb filtering.

Hit pause on the absorption panels. You're trying to paint a car that is still on the assembly line. The absorption panels are one of the last things you will put up. Sketch the basic layout of the room. Doors, windows, current position of technology and furniture, radiators, etc. Include room dimensions and height in the sketch. Nothing fancy, handwritten on a piece of paper will work. Take a picture of your drawing and post it.

I'm of an advanced state of age and have spent my entire life listening to loud Rock & Roll and working around loud aircraft. There is no sweet spot left in my ears. :)

The front speakers are way too low based on the height of the speakers. Get them to have their tweeters at ear height. If you leave everything alone and sit on the floor in front of your couch, how does the front stage sound?

Also, push your speakers to the edge of those "stands". I recommend removing the rear speakers from the equation till the front stage issues are resolved.

Move the rear left speaker further away and maybe even raise it slightly because whoever is sitting next to it will get blasted, while the listener in the chair will barely hear it. Post a drawing of your room from a top view. Buy more subs.
