With my current Harmony remote (655) I can directly navigate to Amazon and Netflix. Is this possible for any app on Roku or are those two apps kind of harcoded? I believe there is a button for netflix and amazon on original roku remote.
For example, I like to click the TV button in Harmony 655 and go directly to youTubeTV in ROku

There is no discrete command for YouTube TV on the Roku. There used to be a work around for YTTV, the programmable 1 & 2 keys found on Ultra & Voice Pro remotes could be programmed for YTTV, and UEI made universal remotes used to have IR commands for not only the 1 & 2 keys, but 1, 2, & 3 keys. But they took them away, no IR commands work for these anymore. :(

But they are a boat load of discretes for other Roku channels you just need a universal remote to teach your Harmony, like the UEI made Inteset 422-3:

Amazon.com: Inteset 4-in-1 Universal Backlit IR Learning Remote for use with Apple TV, Xbox One, Roku, Media Center/Kodi, Nvidia Shield, Most Streamers & Other A/V Devices : Electronics

Or the walmart Onn 6 universal remote:

onn. R113663 6-Device Universal Remote - Walmart.com

Also available on ebay for cheap

If you get one of them, come back and I'll list the codes.

thank you. I have YTTV, probably switching to DirectTV Stream. But I suspect there is no code then for this.
Otherwise, Amazon, Netflix, Apple. I use Netflix, Apple, YTTV most often.

This is a bit a bummer with Roku and SmartTV's. I believe my Samsung TV (different) setup can't do any direct commands. But there might be some sort of workaround with sednign a sequence such as home, left, left, n, enter?

metropole:

I'm late to a series of your questions in your current search for a satisfying and versatile media/streaming solution.

Did you find the audio on your recent trial of YTTV to be the issue you thought it might be in another post?

I understand liking plug ins, but I suggest sorting your icons by preference (on your smart tv, roku, or Xbox S (?)) offers the same convenience..

I use 2 Xbox S systems to serve my physical media to my 2 1080p projectors, and believe an XBox S game player/ 4k device or the more current XBox or Playstation systems would serve your projector and audio setup nicely.

Have you considered using a mac mini or intel nuc to continue with a more current HTPC experience built around Plex or Emby and your existing contemporary device?

I know there are some IR codes out there to launch some apps, but most would have to be done via an IP command. You can try the following from a web browser on the same network, should give you a list of all installed apps on your ROKU, from the list get the app's ID, if you know any IP commands to launch any app, then all you would have to do is to change the ID to the one you want. As stated above you would need a remote that can do some IP scripts.
